Matric Performer's Competition 2018

Lily van der Merwe (Flute) won the Beau Soleil Matric Performer’s Prize for 2018 at the annual competition held on 19 September. The other students to play in this year’s competition were Kristen Leith (Viola), Bevan Snyders (Violin) and Darren Hopley (Percussion). Our adjudicator for this year, Lucia Di Blasio-Scott, has a wealth of expertise and experience in the musical world. She leads many ad hoc orchestras, such as for Richard Cock in The Last Night of the Proms and the Cape Town Pops Orchestra, and she is a dedicated chamber musician. Beau Soleil is most grateful for giving up her time to adjudicate the competition. All four students and their teachers are to be congratulated for the high standard of performance produced in the concert.
