Erik Albertyn

Erik Albertyn completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Port Elizabeth in 1984 after obtaining a Performer’s Licentiate from the Royal Schools of Music in 1979. In 1985 and 1986 he enrolled for performance studies at the Folkwang Hochshule in Essen, Germany under Prof. Hermann Baumann, one of the most celebrated horn soloists of his time. In 1990 an M.Mus in Musicology followed and in 1998 he completed a PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand. The topic of his thesis dealt with the establishment of the orchestra and the fusion of national musical styles as it happened at the Hanover Court, Germany at the beginning of the 18th century.

Ryan van der Rheede

 

Ryan Van der Rheede is a professional  Trombonist  and Brass pedagogue based in Cape Town. Having completed a Bachelor of music  (performance) at the University of Cape Town, Ryan went on to pursue a career in Orchestral playing. This lead to Ryan winning the second trombone chair at the Cape Town Philharmonic orchestra in August 2011. Currently Ryan still performs  with the Philharmonic and teaches  part time.

Emil Bruwer

Emil teaches French Horn & Trumpet at the Music Centre. He completed his DipABRSM (French horn performance), grade 8 French horn, grade 6 theory, and grade 5 piano during his high school years at Constantia Waldorf School, where he attended school right through from kindergarten to matric. As part of his class ten year, he lived and went to school in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany as an exchange student, where he performed with the Town's Wind Band as principal horn.
