Ryan van der Rheede

 

Ryan Van der Rheede is a professional  Trombonist  and Brass pedagogue based in Cape Town. Having completed a Bachelor of music  (performance) at the University of Cape Town, Ryan went on to pursue a career in Orchestral playing. This lead to Ryan winning the second trombone chair at the Cape Town Philharmonic orchestra in August 2011. Currently Ryan still performs  with the Philharmonic and teaches  part time.

Ryan has also participated in extensive tours across Europe with the Miagi Orchestra on numerous occasions.  In other  studies Ryan received masterclasses from world renowned Trombonists  such as Jörgen van Rijen (Royal Concertgebouw) and Weston Sprott (New York Metropolitan Opera). Ryan shares a deep regard and passion for the art of Brass pedagogy and believes that through hard work, tenacity and proper fundamentals, any student can go on to have a long and prosperous career as a professional.
