Dorothy Holder was born and bred in Cape Town. Her ambition had always been to teach and her studies at the University of Cape Town were in music education.
Dorothy has spent most of her working life teaching in the Eastern Cape, 17 years of which were at the D.R. Wynne Music School at St Andrew’s College and the Diocesan School for Girls in Grahamstown. There she taught numerous aspects of music to many different age groups. She has taught everything from Grade R class music to Matric subject work, as well as various instruments, and has trained choirs and ensembles.
Dorothy recently moved back to Cape Town to be closer to her family and is currently a peripatetic music teacher at the Beau Soleil Music Centre, Wynberg Boys’ Junior School and Wynberg Boys’ High School.
