Schools Heritage Day Celebration, 2018
The Beau Soleil Brass Ensemble performed during the annual Schools Heritage Celebration in 2018, hosted by the Centre for Conservation Education in Wynberg. Every year, a different geographical area is highlighted, with the interesting history of the schools presented in audio-visual format. In 2018 the program included 20 schools in the Newlands, Claremont & Kenilworth area, with South African College Schools (SACS) honoured as the oldest school in this geographical area, and Cedar House Prep as the youngest.
The Senior Brass Band performed The Trumpet Tune by Henry Purcell. Please click on the link to a video of the performance.
Beau Soleil Music Centre received a Blue Plaque Award from the Centre for Conservation Education for the architectural significance of the building, which was presented to the Centre on 24 Nov 2018. (Link)
